Privacy policy

This policy explains how Wakeletics handles personal data. It covers this website and the Wakeletics iOS application. The iOS application is currently in development; the sections describing it state how it is built to behave on release.

The short version

Your camera feed is analysed entirely on your device and is never uploaded. If you use Wakeletics without an account, no personal data reaches our servers at all. If you use the social features, what syncs is the outcome of a workout — the movement, the rep count, whether you finished — and never any image, video or precise location.

Website

This website does not use advertising cookies, does not run third-party tracking scripts, and does not ask you for personal information. It is served by Vercel, which processes standard server request data such as IP address and user agent in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

The iOS app

Camera data

Wakeletics uses your camera to verify exercise repetitions. Frames are analysed in memory on your device and discarded. They are not written to your photo library, saved to disk, transmitted to any server, or reviewed by a person. There is no cloud vision service in the rep-counting path. Camera permission is requested at the point you first need it, not during onboarding.

Using the app without an account

Alarms, rep verification, workout history and streaks all function locally. In this mode no personal data is transmitted to us.

If you create an account

Accounts use Sign in with Apple. We receive an identifier and, depending on your choice at sign-in, an email address which may be an Apple private relay address. We do not receive your Apple ID password.

With an account, the following may be synced so that social features work:

• Your display name and any avatar you set
• Completed workout records: movement type, verified rep count, completion status, date and whether the session was on time
• Your current streak
• Wake Circle and challenge membership
• Reactions you send or receive

Location

Location is optional and off unless you enable the Local Morning League. If you do enable it, your position is resolved on your device to a city or metropolitan region and the precise coordinate is discarded. Only the region identifier is stored. You can also select a city manually and never share location at all.

Audio you provide

If you record a custom alarm message or import an audio file, it stays in the app’s storage on your device and is not uploaded.

What we never collect

• Camera frames, video, or any image of you
• Precise location or coordinates
• Your contacts or address book
• Audio recordings or imported audio files

Why we process this data

Account and workout records are processed to provide the service you asked for — specifically to operate streaks, Wake Circles, challenges and leaderboards. Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis is performance of a contract for these features, and consent for optional processing such as coarse location.

Who else processes it

We use service providers to operate Wakeletics. These currently include Apple (Sign in with Apple, app distribution), Supabase (database and authentication for social features) and Vercel (website hosting). They process data on our instructions. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long it is kept

Workout records associated with your account are kept while your account exists so that streaks and history remain accurate. Deleting your account removes your profile and associated social records.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. The app provides an account deletion flow, and you can exercise any of these rights by contacting us.

Children

Wakeletics is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, where the change affects how the app handles your data, surface it in the app.
